:::warning Shutdown date: 31st of October 2026
The **Walley Checkout API** currently hosted on the `collector.se` domain is deprecated and will be permanently shut down on **31st of October 2026**. Until then, it continues to work as before.

Merchants and platforms **must update their integration** to use a URL on the `walleypay.com` domain before this date.

Only the domain is being retired, the API itself is not changing. You have two migration options, described below.

## What is changing?

**Old URL (deprecated):**
  ```
  https://checkout-api.collector.se
  ```

**New URL (minimal change):**
  ```
  https://api-legacy.checkout.walleypay.com
  ```

**Or migrate to the current Walley API (recommended):**
  ```
  https://api.walleypay.com
  ```

## Option 1: Migrate to the current Walley API (recommended)

The current version of the Checkout API is hosted on `api.walleypay.com` and uses **Bearer token authentication** instead of SharedKey. This is the version all new integrations use, and it is where the platform is actively developed.

Migrating involves:

1. Generate API credentials (client id and secret) in [Walley Merchant Hub](https://merchanthub.walleypay.com), see [Authentication](/docs/checkout/authorization).
2. Request an access token from the authentication endpoint and send it as an `Authorization: Bearer {access_token}` header on every request.
3. Use the current endpoints, e.g. `POST https://api.walleypay.com/checkouts` to initialize a checkout session, see [Endpoints](/docs/checkout/endpoints) and [Initialize Checkout](/docs/checkout/initcheckout).

The request and response payloads are the same as you use today, so for most integrations this is a change of authentication and base URL only.

## Option 2: Change the URL only (minimal change)

If you cannot make code changes right now, you can keep your existing integration exactly as it is and only replace the hostname. All request paths stay the same, whichever style your integration uses today:

**Example: initialize a checkout**
  ```
  Old:  POST https://checkout-api.collector.se/checkouts
  New:  POST https://api-legacy.checkout.walleypay.com/checkouts
  ```

**Example: update the cart (older path style)**
  ```
  Old:  PUT https://checkout-api.collector.se/merchants/{storeId}/checkouts/{checkoutId}/cart
  New:  PUT https://api-legacy.checkout.walleypay.com/merchants/{storeId}/checkouts/{checkoutId}/cart
  ```

Your existing **SharedKey authentication and request signing continue to work unchanged** on the new hostname, no code changes, no new credentials. Only the base URL in your configuration changes.

:::info Transitional domain
`api-legacy.checkout.walleypay.com` is a transitional domain for existing SharedKey integrations. It will remain available during the migration period, but new functionality is only released on the current API. We recommend planning a move to [Option 1](#option-1-migrate-to-the-current-walley-api-recommended) when possible.

## Test environment

The same migration applies to the test environment:

**Old test URL (deprecated):**
  ```
  https://checkout-api-uat.collector.se
  ```

**New test URL (minimal change):**
  ```
  https://api-legacy.checkout.uat.walleydev.com
  ```

**Or the current Walley API (recommended):**
  ```
  https://api.uat.walleydev.com
  ```

## Required action

All merchants and platform partners must, before **31st of October 2026**:

1. Choose a migration option:
    - **Option 1 (recommended):** Implement the current Walley API on `api.walleypay.com` with Bearer token authentication.
    - **Option 2 (minimal change):** Replace the hostname `checkout-api.collector.se` with `api-legacy.checkout.walleypay.com` in your configuration.
2. Verify that your integration continues to work as expected: initialize a checkout session and confirm that order administration flows work in your test environment before changing production.
