## Before you start

- You need the **Paylink Management** permission.
- Your stores must be set up for Pay Link. See the [Pay Link overview](/docs/merchanthub/paylink/overview#before-you-start).
- Select **Pay Link** in the top menu. The list shows every Pay Link your permissions give you access to.

## Enter the articles

1. Select **Create new** and then **Pay Link**.
2. Choose the currency.
3. Enter the articles. The customer sees them in the checkout.
4. Select **Next**.

## Review the Pay Link details

1. Choose the store the purchase should be registered on.
2. Optionally, enter an order number so you can find the order later.
3. Choose the delivery method, [remote](#remote-delivery) or [in-store](#in-store-delivery).
4. Select **Create**.

:::info Delivery method and auto activation
The delivery method you choose overrides the store's default activation behaviour for this checkout.
:::

## Send the Pay Link to the customer

When the Pay Link is created, a dialog offers two ways to share it. Send it as a text message, or copy the link and send it by email or another channel.

To send a text message:

1. Enter the customer's mobile phone number in the **Send Pay Link** dialog.
2. Select **Send**.

## The customer completes the purchase

The customer opens the link in a browser on any device and pays. An order is created, and a link to it appears on the Pay Link details page.

:::info Refresh to see the new state
The Pay Link page does not update on its own. Select **Refresh Pay Link** to see the new state and the link to the order.
:::

## Delivery methods

### Remote delivery

Use this for distance sales, for example over the phone or by email. [Activate the order](/docs/merchanthub/orders/activation) when you ship the goods.

### In-store delivery

Use this when the customer takes the goods right away, for example in your physical store. The order is activated when the customer completes the purchase.

## Create a Pay Link from a bookmark

You can prefill fields by adding query parameters to the Pay Link URL. Save the URL as a browser bookmark for configurations you use often, or share it with colleagues.

```
https://merchanthub.walleypay.com/new-paylink?articleNumber=123&description=Item1&country=SE&deliveryMethod=Remote&lock=deliveryMethod
```

This example prefills the article number, description, country code, and delivery method, and locks the delivery method so it cannot be changed by mistake.

### Lock a field

Add `lock=FIELD_NAME` to stop a field from being changed. Repeat it to lock several fields:

```
&lock=deliveryMethod&lock=country
```

### Fields you can prefill and lock

| Field            | Description                                                                           |
